When we received the opportunity to develop two bus shelters as part of Industries Minister Rajeev’es Yathrakkarkku Oppam initiative, our first thought was simple — it should truly meet the needs of today’s commuters.
With that in mind, these shelters were designed around the way people travel today. They include real-time information on bus and metro services, QR code–based ticket booking, and CCTV surveillance connected to the nearest police station, to ensure safety at a junction that remains active 24 hours a day. The design also focuses on clear visibility and smooth pedestrian movement, making the space safer and easier to navigate.
Accessibility was another key priority, with barrier-free entry ensuring that persons with disabilities can also use the facility comfortably. As Kochi continues its journey toward becoming a smarter city, we hope this project contributes in its own small way.
